Harlow helps freelancers get organized, save time, and look professional with automated invoicing, proposal templates, and much more—all from one centralized hub. This software was founded by two women who want to help freelancers focus more on what they love and get paid on time.
Create a lot of content
The founders of Harlow come from the marketing industry, so they knew the value of organic content marketing but didn’t have the team to execute it. As a new company that had just launched a month before working with JTC, they had a lot of content ideas ready to be written. They also wanted to invest in some SEO-optimized content to start ranking for key terms in search.
Collaborative content creation and SEO-optimization
After getting clear on their specific needs, we decided to work together on a monthly retainer that would include 2-3 small content assignments, like editing or landing page copy, along with one SEO-researched article and two assignments from their backlog of content ideas. Within this container, there was room to shift content requests, based on the needs each month.
The JTC team immediately adapted to Harlow’s workflow within Asana. This tool was used to track assignments, briefs, and documents. The JTC team also tracked assignments and progress in a Google Sheet to make sure all the moving content pieces were accounted for and completed in a timely manner. The process was seamless and consistent communication made it easy for everyone to keep track of each piece from start to finish.
Jessica was a joy to work with. She worked within our existing content process, was very accepting of feedback, mastered our voice and tone, and provided extremely valuable SEO insights.
Mastering Tone and Voice
Harlow had a specific tone they wanted to strike in all their content: casual and fun, like you’re talking to a good friend or co-worker. This was a unique aspect of their content that the JTC team worked hard to master and understand through feedback and consistent communication. The goal of JTC is always to become an extension of the client, as if they themselves are writing the content, which means this part of the process is critical—and feedback is always welcomed.
Over the course of just five months, Harlow went from ranking for just 40 keywords to 540, an increase of 1,185 percent. During this time, Harlow and the JTC team completed nearly two dozen pieces of content, including:
